It boosts the signal. I expected the thermostats to repeat the signal as they state it’s a mesh network. However it appears the thermostats are not relaying so you need a repeater. This plug provides a relay allowing me to get the thermostats working at the opposite end of the home to the hub. It works well and as it states.
